Banks Chamber History

In 1994 a group of business owners met to organize a business team. The business team in 1994 filed a DBA as the Banks Area Merchant Association (BAMA). Several years later the DBA was re-registered as the Banks Chamber of Commerce. Five years ago the Banks Chamber became a partner in the WCCCP (Washington County Cooperative Chambers Partnership). The partnership distributes a percentage of a lodging tax collected by the Washington County Commission. The Washington County Visitors Association (WCVA) manages this tax distribution to the nine chambers in Washington County. The Banks Chambers' Visitor Center Kiosk is located in Cafe 47. It has become a popular gathering place for good food, coffee and conversation.
